HL7 Germany FHIR and Terminology Community Days 2024

Download practical exercise

The Postman collection is available on GitLab. The certificate is available here until Wednesday.

At the FHIR and Terminology Community Days, organized by HL7 Germany, SU-TermServ will be represented with a contribution. The focus of the presentation will be on the terminology servers provided by SU-TermServ, which are of central importance for the Medical Informatics Initiative (MII) and the Network of University Medicine (NUM) in particular. A wide range of use cases and areas of application for the terminology server are discussed, including:

  1. Research Data Portal for Health (FDPG): Researchers have the opportunity to submit federated requests for primary data within the framework of the FHIR-compatible core data set (KDS) of the MII. These requests are based on specific terminology codes and are distributed across all connected university hospitals. With the help of the FDPG ontology and the ValueSets generated by the SU-TermServ terminology server, it is also possible to estimate the number of cases for relevant cohorts.

  2. Data integration centres (DIC) data integration centers (DIZ): Here, the terminology server serves as a central reference for ValueSets and terminologies, which are essential for the processing, validation and standardization of data.

Another component of the article is the presentation of the services provided by SU-TermServ, including a detailed description of the FHIR terminology module and the associated FHIR services. Particular emphasis is placed on the practical use of these services. For this purpose, a Postman Collection (based on the Terminology Server Challenge as part of GMDS 2023) will be provided, with which the functions of the FHIR services can be tested. To test this, a test server will be available for which a corresponding certificate is required. The Postman collection is available for download on GitLab. The needed certificate is available for download here, it expires on December 31st. If you require a new certificate afterwards, please get in touch with the SU-TermServ via e-mail.
